When properly cared for, your furniture will remain beautiful for a long time. To maintain the beautiful appearance, a few rules apply to the care of your hardwood furniture:

  • Dust often along the grain in the wood.
  • Maintain humidity levels at 35 – 45% as hardwoods expand and contract with changes in the humidity levels (the expansion and contraction will cause cracks, warping and/or splitting). Radiators and wood stoves can dry out your new solid wood furniture.
  • Keep the temperature in the 65° to 75° range. Maintain a temperature of 70°  for the first 30 days. Your new finish does not achieve its maximum performance  properties for at least 30 days from the time it was applied.
  • Avoid exposure to water, direct sunlight and chemicals.
  • Keep your furniture out of direct contact with hot or cold air from your vents.
  • Do not place damp newsprint, plastic toys or other plastic objects on your furniture. Dyes and inks from these items may discolor the finish over time or when moist.
  • Guard against scratches that can damage the wood or finish.
