The Olde Century Kitchen Chair brings forth both a traditional and vintage vibe. This chair has several traditional handcrafting qualities. One of those being the front leg design. They include a wide taper towards the bottom, which gives the chair outstanding stability.
Look at the top of the back where the horizontal plank meets the vertical wood piece. This is called a joint and this joint is unique because you can see that the horizontal plank running through the vertical piece. That means the handcrafters had to rout out the vertical piece to fit the horizontal plank and then wood glue was added for extra stability. Making this joint provides a strong and durable back. In other words, all this detail and work for one joint!
Lastly, the detail that sets this chair apart is its construction. Amish cabinetmakers — the best in the Midwest — handcraft each chair. Also, they use quarter-sawn white oak. No wonder the chair is so eye-catching. Sturdy. Plus heirloom-quality!
